Health Canada is asking people to stop using a number of sleep sacks for babies because of the risk of suffocation.
The sleep sacks are for infants aged 0 to six months. They were sold under the brand names First Wish, Sam & Joe, Dylan and Abby, Miss Mona Mouse, Harry & Me, and Aspen. They are a fabric bag that has armholes or sleeves, and is closed at the feet. They also come in a variety of colours and designs including penguins, animal faces, zoo animals, dinosaur bones, birch trees, circus designs, vintage cars, and celestial animals.
They can be identified by the model number CA07043 sewn into the care label.
The size of the neck opening is bigger than the standard and a baby can slide into the sleep sack. There have been no reports of suffocation in Canada.
The product was sold at Winners, Marshalls, or Homesense between January 2018 and December 2020.
Consumers are advised to return them to the store for a refund.
