UPDATE: Dog killed, suspects identified in Chatham shooting

Chatham-Kent police have identified the suspects of a shooting on Harvey Street in Chatham, but officers are still working to track them down.

Officers responded to the disturbance around 6 p.m. Tuesday and found two victims -- a 37-year-old Chatham man and a 17-year-old Chatham youth -- outside of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said a dog was also shot and killed during the incident.

According to police, the suspects fled the scene in a white compact car.

“We do not believe there is a threat to public safety as this was a targeted incident,” CK police said in a tweet.

The major crimes unit has taken over the investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Cole Abbott at [email protected] or 519-380-6024.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-380-6024, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
