For the first time since December 24, there are fewer than 100 active COVID-19 infections in Sarnia-Lambton.
In its daily update Wednesday, Lambton Public Health reported just two confirmed cases of the virus, for a total of 1,790 since March 25.
The health unit said 1,657 cases are considered resolved, up 28, putting the number of active cases at 97, down from 123 on Tuesday.
There have been 36 related deaths, unchanged since Tuesday, and the number of active institutional and workplace outbreaks is unchanged at eight.
Bluewater Health still has eight COVID-positive patients in hospital.
Vaccinations at area long-term care homes started on Tuesday. The first person to receive the shot was an 88-year-old resident at Trillium Villa in Sarnia.
From January 17 to 23, Sarnia-Lambton had a case rate of 102 per 100,000, down from the previous weekly case rate of 289 per 100,000.
