The principal for Chatham-Kent's newest school is getting awarded for her work in the education field.
Juli Faubert has been named the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario (CPCO) Principal of the Year.
Faubert works within the St. Clair Catholic District School Board and is currently the principal of St. Angela Merici in Chatham.
According to Rick Baggio, president of the CPCO St. Clair unit, Faubert was nominated for the title by one of her peers within the school board and beat out several other nominees who were also considered for the award.
"Juli is deserving of this provincial award and her colleagues here in St. Clair were unanimous in our nomination," said Baggio.
Faubert began her teaching career in 2003 and as a classroom teacher was involved in bringing blended e-learning platforms to schools.
She has also worked as a numeracy support teacher, served on a committee to bring Catholic virtues into the curriculum as well as been a member of both the Special Education Advisory Committee and Leading Student Achievement Committee.
Since becoming a principal in 2010, Faubert has led three school communities.
According to Baggio, six to seven Principal of the Year awards are presented annually and are divided regionally across the province. The last time the award was presented to a principal within the St. Clair Catholic District School Board was back in 2015.
"It is a privilege and an honour to be chosen by my colleagues for this award," said Faubert. "I am grateful to belong to a community of principals that support each other and our vision for Catholic education in our schools. I thank them for their collaboration and their encouragement in my journey as a principal."
Faubert will receive her award during a virtual ceremony in April.
