CK public health reports a fifth COVID-19 death

A fifth Chatham-Kent resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died.

A spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit said a woman in her 80s died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday.

The public health unit reported that death Monday morning along with 46 new cases of the virus that came in over the weekend.

There were also 55 more resolved cases reported, so the number of active COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent is down to 104.

There are still seven local residents who are hospitalized with the virus.

One new workplace outbreak was added to the local total as well, for a total of 10. The number of active outbreaks at local long-term care homes and congregant living settings are both holding steady at two each.

Walpole Island First Nation reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, however, two cases were also marked as resolved. There are currently three active cases on Walpole Island.
