Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health added another 22 new cases of COVID-19 to the active list Friday. Eight were in North Perth and five in Stratford. There are 110 active cases. Seven  people are in hospital and 287 people are in self-isolation. Seven long term care homes and two retirement homes are battling outbreaks, with dozens of cases detected at both Caressant Care facilities in North Perth, and at Exeter Villa Long Term Care.  Other long term care outbreaks continue at Fordwich Village, Greenwood Court in Stratford, Spruce Lodge in Stratford, Knollcrest Lodge in Perth East, and Wildwood Centre in St. Marys.  There are also outbreaks at Caressant Care Retirement and Livingstone Retirement, both in North Perth.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added nine new COVID-19 case Friday.   There are 52 active cases and one probable case. 153 people are considered high risk contacts. Three people are in hospital.  The new cases are located in South Bruce, Southgate, West Grey, Owen Sound, Hanover, Saugeen Shores, Grey Highlands, and two in Brockton.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 47 new cases of the virus Friday, and 396 active cases.  Seven people are in hospital. 17 of the new cases were located in Wellington County which has 93 active cases, and three hospitalizations. COVID-19 Outbreaks continue at Caressant Care in both Harriston and Arthur, with dozens of cases at the Arthur retirement and long term care homes. There are also outbreaks at Strathcona Long Term Care in Mount Forest, and Wellington Terrace Long Term Care near Fergus.
