Four employees at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home have tested positive for COVID-19.
The home is between Elora and Fegus.
Two employees are experiencing mild symptoms and two are asymptomatic.
Officials say families of Wellington Terrace residents have notified of the situation, adding there have been no COVID-19 cases among residents.
But contact tracing led to sixteen residents being placed in isolation.
The home was under outbreak status, which was set to expire yesterday, but has now been extended to January 21.
“The health and safety of the residents and employees at Wellington Terrace remains the County’s top priority,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “Wellington Terrace will continue to follow extensive infection control processes that follow Ministry of Health directives and are guided by Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. We wish all four of our employees an expedient recovery.”
Wellington Terrace employees are tested every seven days as per Ministry of Health directives. Any resident or employee that shows even the slightest evidence of a health change is immediately tested for COVID-19.
In collaboration with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, Wellington Terrace is in the process of organizing resident and staff COVID-19 vaccinations.
A facility-wide outbreak prohibits any new resident admissions to Wellington Terrace.
