The surge in new COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton slowed somewhat Wednesday.
In fact the number of new cases was in the single digits for the first time since December 21.
Lambton Public Health reported nine new infections for a total of 1,085. The number of recoveries is up 43 at 768, and deaths are unchanged at 28, putting the active case count at 289, down from 323 Tuesday.
There is a total of 15 outbreaks including seven in long-term care homes. An outbreak declared December 30 at Village on the St. Clair retirement home now involves one patient and five staff. There is one school outbreak with four cases reported at Confederation Central. An outbreak at Great Lakes Secondary School was declared over Tuesday.
Bluewater Health now has seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one from Tuesday.
