New year brings new doctors to CKHA

Three new doctors are being added to the roster at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA).

Drs. Peyvand Ashtarani and Lindsay Sheinfeld are Emergency Medicine Physicians and Dr. Tawfik Masaud is a Psychiatrist.

Dr. Ashtarani earned his doctor's degree from Tehran University of Medical Science in Iran and completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Western University in London. He's a familiar face around the hospital, having joined CKHA as a temporary Emergency Medicine Physician in 2014 after several stops -- he joined the Emergency Department permanently earlier this year.

"I have worked in many places but never found a place better than Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. We have the best group of staff, nurses, physicians and we deliver exceptional care to the patients," said Dr. Ashtarani.

Dr. Masaud earned his Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Tripoli in Libya, became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the United Kingdom in 2010 and practiced in various spots in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Dr. Masaud has been a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 2017.

"The community of Chatham-Kent was appealing to me for several reasons: it’s a nice size to achieve a good work-life balance; an ideal place to raise a young family; it has a warmer climate; and you can enjoy the benefits of a small city while living closer to bigger centres," said Dr. Masaud.

Dr. Sheinfeld earned a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from the University of Ottawa in 2015 and received her Bachelor of Medicine from McMaster University in Hamilton in 2018. She recently completed her residency in Family Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

"I am thrilled to join the Emergency Services team at CKHA. The community atmosphere of the hospital has been an ideal place for me to practice and I have felt very welcomed by my colleagues," said Dr. Sheinfeld.

The Chief of Staff at CKHA is pleased with the additions and said they will help the hospital deliver great patient care.

“We are pleased to welcome Doctors Ashtarani, Masaud and Sheinfeld to our clinical team and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi. “Their contributions to our programs and services will be a great addition to CKHA and help us further our commitment to delivering Patient and Family Centred Care.”
