City officers in quarantine due to COVID exposure

The Sarnia Police Service is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19.

Sarnia Police Chief Norm Hansen told BlackburnNews that two city officers have tested positive for the virus due to exposure outside of the workplace.

He said Lambton Public Health is conducting contact tracing, and as a precaution all the officers on their platoon are quarantining at home.

Chief Hansen said officers have been deployed from other areas within the service to cover off shifts and there's no impact to community policing.

COVID-19 protocols are in place at Sarnia Police Headquarters including hand-washing and masking.

Lambton Public Health reported 40 new cases of the virus Wednesday, as well as two new workplace outbreaks and one more school outbreak.
