COVID cases in Sarnia-Lambton hit new daily high

Sarnia-Lambton recorded a new single-day high of 27 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.

In it's daily update, Lambton Public Health said the total caseload since March 25 is now at 565, up from 538 Tuesday.

Recoveries went up eight at 445, deaths were unchanged at 28, which means the number of active cases has increased by 19 to 92.

The health unit is still reporting seven outbreaks, six at workplaces and one at Trillium Villa nursing home in Sarnia where two staff have tested positive.

Bluewater Health still reported two positive patients in hospital Wednesday, unchanged over the previous 24 hours, while the number of patient deaths remained at 19.

Over the past 10 days, Lambton Public Health has reported 118 new cases.

The incidence rate per 100,000 population for December 13 to December 19 rose to 56 from 16.
