Shoplifting arrest in Wallaceburg 

A man is facing several charges after a shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg.

Around 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Walmart on McNaughton Avenue.

The man allegedly took several items from the store, concealed them in a duffle bag and left the store without making any attempts to pay for the items.

When he was approached by security, the man allegedly became aggressive and threatening with security. After a struggle with security, he fled the scene.

The suspect was later located and arrested. He was on conditions to not attend the Walmart in Wallaceburg and also had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing. He was charged with theft under $5,000, possession under $5,000, breach of recognizance, breach of undertaking, assault, uttering threats and escaping lawful custody.

Break and enter in Chatham

Police are appealing for information from the public after a break and enter on King Street East in Chatham.

According to police, around 4 a.m. on Saturday the rear garage of Taj Variety was broken into.

Suspect or suspects entered the garage and stole several cases of 2L Pepsi bottles and a Daymak E-Bike valued at $1,000.

The e-bike is red and white with three Chicago Blackhawk stickers on the front.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant 

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Chatham-Kent police on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his probation.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, the man was located on Queen Street where he was arrested and taken to the police station. He was eventually released with a future court date.
