Firefighters and police in Chatham-Kent had a busy start to the weekend.
Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to St. Clair Street in Chatham.
A 37-year-old Chatham woman allegedly started a fire inside a bus shelter in order to keep herself warm.
The woman was located standing outside the shelter when police arrived. The blaze was extinguished by the Chatham-Kent Fire Department and caused minimal damage.
According to police, the woman had previously been charged with arson and as a result, she was charged with breaching a court condition as well as with arson.
She was taken to police headquarters and held for bail.
Elsewhere, around 4:19 a.m., fire crews from South Raleigh and Merlin responded to a structure fire at 106 William Street in Merlin.
The building was abandoned and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by Chatham-Kent police.
