One week from today, most of us will be celebrating Christmas.
A time when families get together, old traditions are repeated and it's generally a time to celebrate being together. But this year will be different.
Like many of us, Huron County Warden, Glen McNeil has a daughter and a son-in-law that live in another province. In this case, Manitoba, and he says they look forward to getting together every year at Christmas time. He says that won't be happening this year. Very simply, they want to keep each other safe.
"This is a Christmas that we need to say, for the well-being of our loved ones, whether it is our children, their families with young ones or whether it's our parents, we need to not socialize and expand the bubble."
McNeil also points out, with the number of a-symptomatic or pre-symptomatic people among us, we don't know who could be carrying the virus without knowing it.
"We don't know who could be a carrier of COVID at this time and have not tested positive and how quickly the interactions can spread the virus is unbelievable."
McNeil also notes, the vaccine is going to be here a lot sooner than most people thought it would be so it's particularly important to stay vigilant now and continue to observe the public health guidelines so we can all celebrate when it's over.
