Sarnia's Imperial Theatre is set to debut a musical feature film called "Step into Christmas" this week.
Co-writer and performer Brent Wilkinson said it stars eight-year-old Faye Colborne, who is tired of this year's pandemic and just wants a regular Christmas again.
"Of course she can't have that and it doesn't sit well with her, and her favourite Christmas tradition is putting on a show of some kind, so she finds a way to put on a show herself, for herself, and that's where the theatre sort of comes to life in front of her," said Wilkinson.
He said the show includes about a dozen songs, fully choreographed, throughout the theatre.
"[Faye] brings this to life in her imagination, so although it is very theatre centered, it really does speak to anyone right now who is missing their favourite traditions or who want to make the best of this year, who are taking something different and challenging and making something different and wonderful."
Tickets are on sale and the show will be available for streaming beginning Thursday, December 17.
"You'll be able to go online, ImperialTheatre.net and that's where you can buy your virtual ticket for $20, and that's per household," said Wilkinson. "There will be a link available and that's where you can get your tickets and watch from home."
Wilkinson said the show will help determine if video-on-demand productions are a viable option until pandemic restrictions are lifted.
