Sarnia-Lambton's health unit added five new cases and five more recovered cases of COVID-19 to the figures over the past 24 hours.
Lambton Public Health's update Monday morning showed 452 confirmed cases, 402 resolved and 26 deaths, leaving the active caseload at 24.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade said he echoes concerns expressed by Bluewater Health's chief of staff about an upswing in cases.
He said the most important number is new cases and there are signs of a concerning trend locally.
"We're getting more cases at a given time on given days and that's a concerning trend. So I think we're starting to see the beginning of an upswing -- how big it'll be, it's hard to say, but I think it just reinforces how important it is for people to really limit their nonessential activities, and also really, you know, don't do things when we're not well."
On Sunday, Bluewater Health reported that there are now three COVID-positive patients in hospital, up from two Saturday.
There are two outbreaks ongoing at the NOVA Chemicals cracker expansion project at Corunna and at the Shell Canada plant in Corunna. On Monday, the health unit reported an additional case connected to the outbreak at NOVA, for a total of three.
Sarnia-Lambton remains in the yellow “protect” level in the province’s COVID-19 response framework.
