An additional COVID-19 related death is being reported in the Windsor-Essex region.
The death, along with 51 new cases of the virus, was reported on Sunday morning by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
The latest person to pass away was a woman in her 70s from the community.
The total number of people who have died due to the virus in the region now sits at 91. Meanwhile, the total number of cases is now at 4,568. Of those cases, 641 are listed as being active and 33 are hospitalised.
According to the health unit, six of the latest cases are from close contact of a confirmed case, two are community-acquired and 43 cases are still being investigated.
There remains eight long-term care or retirement home outbreaks, nine workplace outbreaks, two school outbreaks, two community outbreaks and one hospital outbreak in Windsor-Essex.
Another case of COVID-19 was reported at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School on Sunday. According to the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, no cohorts will be dismissed as schools will switch to online learning on Monday.
Elsewhere, provincial health officials recorded a total of 1,677new cases of the virus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in Ontario to 140,181.
