The Canada-United States border will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least January 21, 2021.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement on Twitter on Friday.
"To keep Canadians safe, we've extended the measures currently in place at the Canada-US border by another 30 days," Trudeau said on Twitter. "Non-essential travel between our two countries remains restricted until at least January 21, 2021."
The restrictions were set to expire on December 21.
Only essential travel, which includes healthcare workers who live in Canada and work in the US, and trade has been allowed since March 21 to limit the spread of COVID-19 between the two countries.
The closure has been extended each month since then.
