The North Perth Chamber of Commerce Shop Local Dollars program has become so popular this year they had to print more Chamber Bucks.
General Manager Sharon DArcey said as the pandemic brought many of the usual Christmas activities to a halt, some larger businesses started giving Shop Local dollars to keep money in the community.
"Not only businesses, but the general public have decided to use these dollars, as gift giving opportunities, and we're benefiting, so it's great," she said.
This year's program has been running for about a month, and so far $120,000 dollars have been purchased.
"So our best year was probably 2019 where we had sold up to $60,000. And this year obviously, we doubled it, and we're not even through the season yet", she said.
Businesses were sending in requests from $400 up to their largest ever request of $62,000.
