Alleged shoplifter arrested

A 22-year-old woman accused of shoplifting several items worth approximately $95 from the Walmart in Wallaceburg has been charged.

Chatham-Kent police were called Sunday morning about a shoplifting complaint. It's alleged the 22-year-old hid cosmetics and jewellery in her coat and removed the tags off of a pair of boots and walked out of the store while wearing them.

A loss prevention officer tried to stop her but she took off. However, police found her shortly after.

She is now charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. The 22-year-old was released from police custody with a future court date of December 23. --------------

Break-in at Chatham Fuels

Police are investigating a break-in at Chatham Fuels on Grand Avenue East.

Officers were called to the gas station shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday. Police said a suspect went to the business on a bicycle, smashed the front glass door, went into the business and left soon after. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Chatham woman charged with assault

A 25-year-old Chatham woman has been charged after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend.

Officers were called about a domestic disturbance in Chatham on Sunday.

She was charged and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 6, 2021. ---------

Shoplifting complaint at Shoppers

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman for allegedly shoplifting from the Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.

Officers were called to the business on Sunday night. A 36-year-old woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. She will have to answer to the charges in court on January 13, 2021.

Break-in suspect arrested

A man found sleeping inside of a commercial property on Centre Street in Chatham has been arrested.

Police were called about a suspicious person on Sunday morning. A 38-year-old Moraviantown man was found on the third floor of the building.

He was charged with break and enter and now has a future court date scheduled for January 6, 2021.

Forklift recovered

A $20,000 Moffett forklift reported stolen last week has been found.

The forklift was stolen from Adams Industrial Forklifts on Richmond Street. Police said it was found near a farmer’s field in the area of McLarty Line and Scane Road in Howard Township on Saturday.

Wanted person arrested

A 32-year-old Chatham man wanted for allegedly failing to attend court has been arrested after police were called about a suspicious person.

Officers were called to the Via Rail train station on Queen Street on Sunday morning. The 32-year-old was arrested and charged. He will have to attend court on December 23.

Leamington man arrested in Harwich Township

A 43-year-old Leamington man has been charged with failing to comply following a family dispute in Harwich Township.

Police were called to a residence Sunday afternoon. The 43-year-old allegedly drank alcohol which breached his probation conditions. He was charged and later released with a future court date of January 27, 2021.
