A staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer has tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Officials with the long-term care home were notified about the case on Saturday, and say the employee is now in isolation, and that the case does not appear to have been contracted from within the workplace.
In a letter written to residents and families of the home, Michele Harris, the Director of Homes and Senior Services for Elgin County, said they are consulting the case with the local health unit.
"We continue to work very closely with Southwestern Public Health officials on outbreak management and practices. Staff are providing care using droplet/contact precautions and personal protective equipment for any residents that may require isolation," said Harris.
No other cases of the virus have been identified in staff or residents at the home. The facility said it continues to closely monitor all residents and screen staff for symptoms of the virus.
