Man arrested for impaired

Chatham-Kent police were able to get an alleged drunk driver off the road.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, officers saw a vehicle speeding in Blenheim.

After a traffic stop was initiated, it was determined that the driver was exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment.

The 49-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to police headquarters for a breathalyzer.

He was eventually released with a future court date.

Warrant arrests 

Police were able to nab several people this weekend in Chatham who were wanted on warrants.

On Saturday, around 8:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was arrested on a breach of probation warrant.

Elsewhere, a 33-year-old man was arrested early Saturday afternoon on a warrant for possession under $5,000 and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Lastly, around 10 p.m. on Saturday, a 24-year-old man was arrested on a warrant for assault with a weapon and mischief.

All three were eventually released with a future court date.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
