Some new COVID 19 outbreaks are occurring in Midwestern Ontario.
Huron Perth Public Health reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday for a total of 52 active cases of COVID-19 in Huron and Perth, including 18 in both North Perth and Stratford. 347 of their contacts are currently in self isolation. Five community members are currently in hospital.
A new outbreak has been declared at Livingston Manor Retirement home in North Perth after one staff member tested positive. And the outbreak continues at Cedarcroft Retirement in Stratford.
The outbreak at Knollcrest Long Term Care in Milverton is over. And an outbreak at Spruce Lodge Long Term Care in Stratford is expected to be over soon.
There is one school outbreak, at Northwatch Christian School in North Perth and St. Mary's Catholic Elementary in Listowel.
Dr. Miriam Klassen, MOH for Huron and Perth, says COVID-19 cases have been associated with other schools including Anne Hathaway, Listowel District, Goderich DCI and Central Huron Secondary but officials have said there is no evidence of further transmission.
The Grey Bruce Health unit added nine new cases of COVID-19 Thursday. There are 36 active cases, and 7 probable cases. 204 other people are considered high risk contacts. Four of the new cases are in Southgate, two in Grey Highlands, two in Arran Elderslie and one in Blue Mountains. Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Long Term Care Home in Owen Sound is under outbreak protocols.
Wellington Dufferin Guelph reported 8 new cases Thursday in Wellington County. There are 32 active cases in Wellington County. 22 of those in the northern three municipalities. One person is hospitalized in Wellington. An outbreak continues at Minto-Clifford Public School in Harriston, where three people tested positive.
A new outbreak was declared at Caressant Care seniors home in Harriston.
