Another COVID-19 case at U of W

The University of Windsor has reported another case of COVID-19 in its campus community.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit confirmed the new case on Thursday, making it the fourth case reported in the past two weeks. The new case is unrelated to others previously reported at the school.

The individual is in self-isolation and U of W has taken the appropriate precautions in cleaning and safety.

The university said there is no risk to the campus community at its time and it is working with the health unit.

As of Thursday afternoon, there was a total of 11 confirmed cases at the university, with eight of them considered resolved. Among the cases that have cleared were five that were connected to an unauthorized Halloween party at a student residence.

The school is in remote-learning mode, with most classes being held online with some exceptions. The campus itself is still open, but those heading there are required to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment first.
