Police investigating collision
Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a collision involving a cyclist in Wallaceburg.
It happened around 6:30 Friday evening. Officers attended Dufferin Avenue, near Big Chief Drive-In after someone riding a bike had been hit by a vehicle.
The cyclist was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Man arrested for impaired driving
A call to police is to thank for getting an alleged impaired driver off the road in Chatham.
Around 10 p.m. Friday, police got a complaint about a possible impaired driver.
The vehicle was located and officers initiated a traffic stop. Police believed that the driver was showing signs of impairment and he was arrested.
The 27-year-old was taken to police headquarters for a breathalyzer and was later released with a future court date.
Man facing theft and assault charge
A 33-year-old man is facing a pair of charges after allegedly assaulting a store employee in Chatham.
It started around noon on Friday when police attended a store on St. Clair Street for a shoplifting complaint.
The man was arrested and charged with theft and possession under $5,000. Officers also learned that the man allegedly spat on a worker at the store. As a result, he was also charged with assault.
He has since been released with a future court date.
Drunk driving arrest in Chatham
Failing to stop at a stop sign has led to a man being charged for impaired driving in Chatham.
Around midnight Saturday, officers initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle after it failed to stop at a stop sign.
According to police, the 37-year-old driver showed signs of impairement and was arrested.
He was taken to the police station for breath tests and eventually released with a future court date.
