Traffic stop leads to wanted man's arrest

A 30-year-old man who was wanted by London police was arrested in Chatham Tuesday morning during a traffic stop.

Police said they pulled the driver over shortly after 11 a.m. on Fairview Line and charged him with driving under suspension.

During their investigation, police also learned that the man was wanted in London for failing to comply, so he was later transferred to London police custody.

Man arrested for public intoxication

A 65-year-old man spent the night sobering up in Chatham-Kent police custody after he was picked up in the parking lot at the Days Inn in Wallaceburg late Tuesday night.

Police said they arrested him after getting a call about an unwanted person there at around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

He was taken back to police headquarters in Chatham and later released.

Man arrested for violating bail condition

A 27-year-old man is in more trouble with police now after he allegedly breached his bail conditions by consuming alcohol and then tried to escape from police custody.

Chatham-Kent police said they caught up with him while they were responding to a family dispute on Mary Street in Chatham at around midnight.

Officers said they arrested the man at the scene after learning he was intoxicated by alcohol, which was a violation of his bail conditions.

Police said he resisted arrest and tried to run away, but officers were able to catch up to him shortly after that and took him into custody.

He was taken to police headquarters and charged, then released with a future court date.
