Man accused of assaulting pregnant girlfriend

A 20-year-old Florence man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend and sent her a dozen unwanted text messages.

Chatham-Kent police said they received the information Sunday morning.

The man is accused of sending his pregnant girlfriend 12 unwanted text messages after she left him. He also reportedly called her 32 times.

The accused was arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats, and criminal harassment.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested after allegedly threatening his grandfather

A 32-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with uttering threats after police were called to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Police said the man allegedly became aggressive and threatened his grandfather after a verbal argument.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Tobacco stolen from smoke barn

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone broke into a smoke barn on Erieau Road and stole about $2,000 worth of black tobacco.

Police said the break-in took place sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Sunday and 3 a.m. on Monday.

Woman arrested for breaching release conditions

A 26-year-old woman who was released from custody back in May is in more trouble with police after she allegedly breached her conditions by visiting a Blenheim man she had been banned from communicating with.

Police said they found the woman in the man's home while they were responding to a disturbance at the residence Sunday night.

As a result, she was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions, then released pending a future court date.
