Applications open up for Goodfellows Christmas campaign

An annual Christmas campaign is just around the corner.

On Monday, November 2, the Chatham Goodfellows will begin taking online applications for those who are in need this holiday season for its “No Child Without a Christmas” campaign.

Anyone interested in applying can do so by visiting the Chatham Goodfellows website.

Beginning on November 9, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, those seeking assistance at Christmas can call 519-354-1146 to register for food and toys.

The Goodfellows will also be hosting its annual Porchlight Campaign on November 30, however, it will be all done virtually.

"With a commitment to continue our tradition, Chatham Goodfellows invites the community to participate in a Virtual Porchlight Campaign” where people will be able to e-transfer money and light up their porch lights to show support," said Director Tim Mifflin.

Another significant change to this year's campaign is that the age limit for children receiving toys and gifts this year will be changed from up to 12 years old to up to 15 years old.

"Please note that 2020 No Child Without a Christmas campaign is more important than ever as we strive to serve this wonderful community during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mifflin.

Community organizations that would like to donate toys and food can email Chatham Goodfellows and a volunteer will arrange to pick up any donations. Appointments can be booked by calling 519-354-1146 or emailing: info@chathamgoodfellows.ca.

Last weekend, the Chatham Goodfellows hosted its “No Child Without a Christmas” drop off weekend.

According to Mifflin, Donations consisted of 11 floor totes of Toys, 100 boxes of non-perishable food, and over $2,000 in donations.

"This is the launch of what we hope will be another successful year of supporting our community during the holidays," he said.
