A popular restaurant in downtown Chatham has closed its doors for the next two weeks after the establishment was exposed to COVID-19.
Mamma Maria's Ristorante announced Friday night that it had been informed of the exposure by Chatham-Kent Public Health. The restaurant said it is working closely with the health unit and anyone who has been exposed has been notified.
"All proper testing and/or isolation is being done," restaurant officials said on their Facebook page. "For the health and safety of our staff and patrons, we have made the decision to be proactive in this matter and close the restaurant for two weeks."
Mama Maria's will reopen to the public on November 13.
"We thank you for your continued support during this crisis and we look forward to serving our community again soon."
As of Friday evening, there were 32 active cases of the virus within the municipality with three people being treated in the hospital. The CK health unit has reported a total of 410 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began and three people have died from the virus.
