New COVID-19 cases in Huron Perth

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 jumped by five in Huron Perth today for a total of nine active cases.

Huron Perth Public health reports of the five new confirmed cases, three are residents within the retirement home Cedarcroft in Stratford, which is currently in outbreak and has a total of six confirmed cases as of Hthis morning. Three of the residents are symptomatic and three are not symptomatic at this time; all are in isolation.

The other confirmed cases reported today include an asymptomatic surveillance result and another positive result that is being investigated.

“Our Outbreak Management Team is working closely with Cedarcroft Place to ensure they are following outbreak control measures and public health guidance, and to support their staff to safely work during this outbreak,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health. “We are following up and monitoring the situation closely; as with any facility outbreak, it’s possible there could be more cases confirmed in the coming days.”

All staff and residents at Cedarcroft are being tested. Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is conducting thorough contact tracing and will be in touch with anyone who is a close contact of a confirmed case to provide guidance.
