Vehicle stolen from impound lot in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a vehicle that was stolen from Wallaceburg 24 Hour Towing on Lowe Avenue.

Police said a silver Acura that was impounded by police for 45 days was stolen late Tuesday night. It was last seen with Ontario license plates BDBZ 617.

Trio of local break-ins, thefts

Police are also asking for tips from the public as they investigate three other local break-ins and thefts.

In the first case, someone allegedly forced their way into a shed on Base Line sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 12 p.m. Wednesday and stole various DeWalt and Ryobi tools with a combined value of approximately $1,000.

In the second case, someone stole a laptop from a building at Ridgetown College at around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

And in the third case, someone broke into the Refind Charity Thrift Store on James Street in Wallaceburg sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning and took off with some jewelry and some clothes. You can find pictures of the stolen jewelry below.

Pair of alleged shoplifters arrested in Chatham

A 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old man are facing charges after they allegedly tried to get away with a five-finger discount at the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police said they were called to the store at around 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon for a report of two men who were seen stealing about $90 worth of items and making no attempt to pay for them.

Officers said before they arrived, a Loss Prevention officer was arresting the men when they took off running.

Police were able to track down two suspects a short distance away and took them into custody.

They were both charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and escaping lawful custody.

They were both taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic disturbance leads to assault, weapons charges

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a handful of offences after an argument in Tilbury took a violent turn Wednesday night.

Police said the man, who was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample, was arrested after officers were called in to investigate a domestic disturbance at a local residence.

The man was later charged with assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and forcible confinement.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man accused of domestic violence

A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges in connection with a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Police said the man was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief after officers were called to investigate an incident shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Three arrests on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with three more people on their wanted list.

The first suspect, a 38-year-old man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions, was arrested Wednesday morning. He was charged and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

A 34-year-old man who was wanted for domestic assault was arrested Wednesday night and later released with a future court date.

And a man who was wanted for breaching his probation order, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while prohibited, and failing to attend court was arrested in Tilbury. Police said they picked him up just before 2 a.m. Thursday.

When he was arrested, he was also charged with failing to comply with his curfew. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
