20 new COVID-19 cases in London-Middlesex

The London-area saw another day of double-digit COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported 20 new cases, marking the highest number of cases recorded in a single day since April 16 when 24 people tested positive. The total case count for the region now stands at 974. There were also seven additional recoveries reported on Sunday.

This comes after the region saw just three new cases on Saturday following 19 new infections on Friday and 10 on Thursday.

So far 57 people have died from the virus in the London-area, a number that hasn’t changed since June 12.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Oxford and Elgin counties, reported one new COVID-19 case on Sunday, bringing to total to 274.

Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 649 new cases, which represents a 1.1 per cent increase over Saturday's figures.
