People will not be gathered around long tables and a full spread of food at Entegrus' annual Thanksgiving luncheon this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Entegrus will proceed with the eighth annual event, but it will be take-out style this time.
Free individual take-out meals that can be heated up will be served on Friday, instead of the usual sit-down feast.
Thanksgiving meals will be handed out behind the Spirit and Life Centre at 184 Wellington St. W. in Chatham from 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
"Traditionally, this has been a warm, sit down meal, served to over 100 patrons of the St. Ursula, St. Paul’s Society of St. Vincent De Paul’s Friday meal program each year," said Entegrus President and CEO Jim Hogan. "We wanted to ensure we were still able to provide a special meal for those in need."
To ensure that this year's event would still take place in some capacity, several community partners stepped up to help.
Evans Wholesale donated meal items and the use of a refrigerated truck to transport meals. Burns Restaurant is going to prepare the meals once again and package them in individual containers.
People who are planning to take part in the event are asked to maintain physical distance when picking up meals and respect the one meal per person limit.
