Trump tests positive for COVID-19

U.S. President Donald Trump has tested positive for COVID-19.

He announced the news on Twitter early Friday morning.

The news came just hours after one of his closest advisors, Hope Hicks, also tested positive for the virus that has now infected 7.2-million Americans, and claimed the lives of more than 207,000.

Trump's physician released an official announcement around the same time the president released the news.

Trump and his wife, Melania, will now have to quarantine for 14 days.

On Tuesday night, Trump took part in the first presidential debate against his Democratic rival, Joe Biden. Wednesday night, he was in Minnesota for a rally.

The second presidential debate is scheduled for October 15 in Miami, Florida.
