One person is fighting for their life following a serious collision that shut down the eastbound Highway 401 in Chatham.
The Ontario Provincial Police said a tractor-trailer and car collided in the eastbound lanes at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The driver, and only occupant of the car, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Police closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Bloomfield Road and Communications Road for several hours while officers conducted an investigation. The highway was reopened to traffic shortly before 8 p.m.
