Seven new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

Windsor-Essex saw a handful of additional COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

The local health unit reported seven new cases, bringing the regional case count to 2,579.

Four of the latest cases are from close contact, one is a result of community spread and two cases remain under investigation.

Two more people also recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours in the region. A total of 2,424 of the total cases are listed as being resolved.

There remained three COVID-19 outbreaks at local retirement homes. Meanwhile, there are currently no workplace oubreaks declared in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit also reported one new possible COVID-19 exposure spot. Anyone who visited Crunch Fitness LaSalle on Malden Road on September 8 is being asked to monitor for symptoms of the virus.

Elsewhere, provincial health officials reported 232 new cases on Saturday, an increase of 0.5 per cent over Friday.
