Police look to ID two men

Chatham-Kent police are asking for help from the public in identifying two men in connection with a fraud investigation after two counterfeit U.S. $100 bills were used at a store in Chatham.

Chatham man accused of damaging Mustang

A 37-year-old Chatham man is charged with mischief after he allegedly threw a bicycle onto the hood of a Ford Mustang GT.

Police said the vehicle was parked at St. Agnes Church on Croydon Street in Chatham on Wednesday. Officers were originally called about a suspicious man in the parking lot.

Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $2,000.

The 37-year-old was found nearby and arrested. He was released from police custody with a future court date scheduled for October 7.

No injuries in Bothwell crash

Damage is pegged at $15,000 after a 72-year-old man allegedly caused a two-vehicle crash in Bothwell.

Police were called to the collision on Macewan Street near Peter Street around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

A 72-year-old Bothwell man was charged with making an unsafe turn.

Fentanyl seized in Chatham

A 28-year-old Ridgetown man who was handed several court-ordered conditions upon release on Wednesday was back in police custody less than 24 hours later.

Police said one of the orders issued Wednesday was to not communicate with a specific Blenheim woman. In addition, he was also under a probation order with the same condition.

Hours later on Wednesday night, officers were called to the Walmart in Chatham about a suspicious man. He was spotted in a vehicle as it was leaving so police conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was the specified Blenheim woman.

It's alleged the 28-year-old was also in possession of fentanyl. He was arrested and charged with drug possession, failing to comply with his release conditions, and breach of probation.

Wanted man arrested

A 40-year-old Chatham man wanted for several offences has been arrested.

The man was found walking on Sandys Street in Chatham on Wednesday afternoon. He was wanted for theft of a motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample.

The 40-year-old was eventually released with a future court date scheduled for October 7.
