A woman who was rushed to the hospital after she was pulled unconscious from the water at Rondeau Provincial Park has been identified.
Provincial police said Heather Connon of Windsor passed away after being pulled from the water in Lake Erie on Thursday afternoon.
Her family and friends are grieving and remembering her as a kind and beautiful soul.
Emergency crews responded to Lakeshore Road at around 2:15 p.m. after the 48-year-old woman fell off an inflatable raft and failed to resurface. Onlookers on the shore were able to swim out to help Connon and perform CPR. Emergency responders continued to conduct CPR before she was taken to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition.
Connon's hometown is Blenheim but she was a mainstay in the Windsor service industry for many years. She also loved travelling.
Heather's cousin Lerissa Hartford has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family cope through "this hard time."
Funeral arragenments have now been finalized. A Celebration of Heather's life will be held on September 5 at 2 p.m. at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home.
