Catholic school board looks to fill positions quickly

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is looking to fill supervisor positions at multiple schools in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton, however, the postings will not be open for long.

The Catholic School Board put the call out for part-time Adult Supervisors and Student Supervision Officers earlier this week with a closing date set for September 1 at 4 p.m. The start date listed for new hires is September 3 or as soon as possible.

The position of Adult Supervisor entails working 25-30 hours per week until the end of the school year for $14 an hour. Twelve positions are open at schools in Sarnia-Lambton and there are 11 positions within Chatham-Kent.

The school board is also looking for two part-time Student Supervision Officers, one at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Sarnia and the other at Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School. Successful applicants will be expected to work 10 hours per week from 10:49 a.m. to 12:49 p.m. for $17.50 an hour.

Both the Adult Supervisor and Student Supervision Officer positions require a high school diploma.

Some responsibilities outlined in both positions include monitoring student behaviour and reporting unsafe conditions. The position of Student Supervision Officer details a few more responsibilities such as assisting staff in removing or escorting students in regard to behaviour or safety plans, helping in locker searches and supervising indoor and outdoor areas, such as cafeterias and parking lots.

A few other teaching positions in Chatham-Kent were also listed by the school board.

Further details about the positions or submitting a resume can be found by clicking, here.

Students within the Catholic and public school boards will start school in phases starting on either September 10 or the week of September 14.

The Lambton-Kent District School Board is also in the process of hiring additional staff, however, an exact number is unknown at this point.

LKDSB Director of Education John Howitt told Blackburn News, additional staff will be hired in almost all areas to ensure student safety and lower class sizes.
