The swabbing numbers are in from Dresden's COVID-19 drive-thru testing clinic, but some of the results are still pending.
Vice President of Clinical Operations at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) Caen Suni said about 200 people attended the mobile clinic on Tuesday and another 101 people were swabbed on Wednesday.
As of Thursday morning, there were no positive test results from the Dresden clinic, but Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby noted that not all of the results are back yet.
When it comes to future testing mobile testing clinics, Suni said the CKHA does not have any plans for drive-thru clinics this fall or winter, but he did note that "a series of partners" will be coming together to discuss what the fall testing strategy will look like.
"We do know that with schools going back in a matter of days, and the ongoing need for testing, that there is a lot of discussion occurring in terms of what our strategy looks like next," said Suni. "As of now, there is no specific plan for mobile testing -- that doesn't mean it's off the table completely -- but what we do need to do is plan for a sustainable model."
Suni added that once the weather starts to change, with more snow and ice, mobile testing will not be safe for individuals in the community or to have health teams moving around.
He said the CKHA and its partners are currently looking at a different model but could still end up carrying out some mobile clinics if the need arises, which could include dealing with an outbreak.
