Collisions reported in Chatham

Damage is estimated at $10,000 after someone allegedly ran a red light and caused a two-vehicle collision in Chatham.

Police said the crash happened on Keil Drive near Riverview Drive on Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported. One driver was charged with disobeying a red light.

Meanwhile, a single-vehicle crash on Wilson Avenue near St. Clair Street resulted in $5,000 worth of damages.

A 35-year-old Chatham woman was charged with careless driving.

Man charged with assault

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly threw hot chocolate at a woman he knows, while she was riding a bicycle.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was wanted for domestic-related offences and was additionally charged with assault after officers found him on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old was eventually released from police custody and given a future court date of September 30.

Man allegedly takes anger out on fan

An argument between two people in Ridgetown has resulted in a smashed appliance.

Police said a 37-year-old Chatham man allegedly took a baseball bat to a woman's standup fan during a heated argument on Wednesday.

He was charged with mischief under $5,000. He has a future court date scheduled for September 23.

Tools stolen in separate thefts

Officers are investigating a couple of different thefts in Chatham-Kent.

In one case, someone broke into a fenced compound on Charing Cross Road in Raleigh Township and stole several tools from an unlocked vehicle. The theft happened sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening. The items stolen are worth approximately $6,000.

In the meantime, several Milwaukee and Klein tools were stolen from a parked truck on Selkirk Street in Chatham. Police said the suspect forced their way into the truck sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The stolen items are worth approximately $3,000.
