Multi-vehicle crash in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a four-vehicle crash in Chatham at the intersection of Keil Drive and Richmond Street.

The collision was reported shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The scene was cleared before 10 a.m.

Driver slapped with $359 speeding fine

Chatham-Kent police are reminding drivers to slow down on local roadways.

An officer on general patrol stopped a male driver this week for allegedly speeding on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. The vehicle was clocked going 109 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone.

The driver was issued a $359 fine and four demerit points.

Man accused of being intoxicated at park

A 57-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place after officers were called to Tecumseh Park.

Police said they received a report of an intoxicated person in the park on Monday night. He was taken into custody and held until sober. ------

Men arrested on warrants

A 33-year-old Raleigh Township man wanted for several offences has been arrested.

A report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Witherspoon Street in Chatham was made on Monday night.

Police said the man behind the wheel was wanted for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, and flight from police. He has a future court date scheduled for October 7.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Chatham man wanted on two counts of failing to attend court has turned himself in.

Officers said the 19-year-old went to police headquarters on Monday morning. He was released with another court date scheduled for September 28.

Woman charged with failing to comply

A 27-year-old woman is facing additional charges for allegedly failing to abide by one of her court-ordered conditions.

Police said the 27-year-old was ordered to not be within 50 metres of a specific business on Park Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers arrested her on Monday afternoon after she was reportedly found sitting on the side of the road near the business. She was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

The 27-year-old has been released from police custody with a future court date scheduled for August 26.

Bicycle Registry Recommended

Officers are encouraging residents to register their bikes online through the Bicycle Registry.

The online registration will boost one's chances of having a bicycle returned by police in case it's reported lost or stolen.

Larissa Jackson was born and raised in Chatham. She was hired as an administrative assistant with CKPS last year.
