Windsor seeking COVID-19 heroes

The City of Windsor is looking for people who have gone above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Drew Dilkens has launched a nomination portal for the city's COVID-19 Community Champions. The mayor has asked the community to help identify individuals and groups that may be worthy of recognition.

"This is our chance to express our gratitude for those little acts that have made a big impact," said Dilkens in a media release. "Perhaps it's a neighbourhood network to check up on seniors, an artist finding unique ways to spread creative works, a faith community helping to deliver groceries, or a young person helping others connect online. I've been impressed with the volunteerism that our community has experienced."

Nominees must be a person or a group that operates within the city of Windsor in response to the pandemic.

Residents are asked to fill out the online nomination form with the person or group's name, along with a brief explanation of why the nominee should be recognized as a Community Champion. Recipients will be personally contacted and recognized by Dilkens in the months ahead.

The form can be found on the mayor's page at the official City of Windsor website.
