Weapons seized in Wallaceburg

A 58-year-old Wallaceburg man has been arrested after officers seized several firearms from a residence.

Police said officers received information that a firearm was being stored unlawfully at a residence in Wallaceburg.

Following a search on Friday morning, officers found several handguns that were allegedly not registered to the resident.

The 58-year-old was arrested for illegal storage of a firearm at unauthorized place and failing to report a lost restricted firearm. He was released from custody pending a future court date.

Cash stolen during break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in where "a substantial amount of cash" was reported stolen.

Police said the break-in happened at a residence on Turquoise Court in Chatham, early Saturday morning.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
