Climate survey in Grey County

Grey County is asking its agricultural community for input into the Agricultural Community Climate survey.

The ask is part of the county continuing to develop an action plan, with an eye towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, while encouraging sustainable growth.

The county said its current data suggests that due to the size and strength of the agricultural community in proportion to other sectors, agriculture accounts for 47 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions in Grey County.

The plan is being developed in partnership with ICLEI Canada, a Toronto-based consulting firm that comes up with plans for governments, NGO's and businesses to create what they call on their website "sustainable, low-carbon, energy-efficient, climate-ready communities".

$50,000 has been set aside in the county's budget for the plan, the survey will close on Friday, August 7.
