32 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting several new COVID-19 cases in the region.

On Saturday, the health unit reported 32 new cases of the virus, bringing the total case count up to 2,156.

Nineteen of the latest cases are from the agri-food sector, two are local healthcare workers, eight are community-based and three cases are still under investigation.

As of Saturday, there remained 10 workplace outbreaks in the region- four at farms in Kingsville, two at farms in Leamington, two at manufacturing plants in Windsor, one manufacturing plant in Tecumseh and one in Leamington.

There are also three active outbreaks at area long-term care homes.

There were no new deaths reported on Saturday, with the local total still sitting at 69 since the pandemic began.

Saturday also brought a large increase of the number of resolved cases. A total of 68 additional individuals were reported as being recovered on Saturday, bringing the total to 1,433.

Provincially, 138 new cases were reported on Saturday morning, bringing the total case count in Ontario to 38,543.
