Windsor-Essex sees 47 new COVID-19 cases

The Windsor-Essex Health Unit recorded 47 additional cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

A total of 41 of Saturday’s new cases are related to the agri-food sector. The remaining six cases come from community transmission.

The local case count now stands at 1,926. To date, 1,303 individuals have recovered from the virus.

There was also an additional outbreak reported at an agricultural workplace in Leamington. There are now a total of two agriculture workplace outbreaks in Leamington and four in Kingsville as well as a workplace outbreak at a manufacturing plant in Leamington.

Meanwhile, the number of workplace outbreaks at area long-term care home and retirement homes remained at two.

Health officials in Ontario reported 166 new cases on Saturday, bringing the provincial total to 37,440.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
