New COVID-19 cases show up in CK as Phase 3 gets underway

Chatham-Kent Public Health is reporting new cases of COVID-19.

The latest numbers reported on Friday afternoon showed three new cases for a total of 13 active cases of the virus. That's four new cases reported this week and one recovered.

CK Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby said one person has been hospitalized in Windsor. That's the first COVID-19 patient from the Chatham area sent to the hospital in several weeks. The other 12 people are self-isolating.

Colby added the new cases, with one exception, are contacts of cases that were originally linked to the agricultural outbreaks in Essex County.

"We are still investigating one case as per the possible source," he said. "The new cases and their contacts are isolated."

CK Public Health is reporting no outbreaks currently in the area.
