Owen Sound Tourism and Visitor Services opens Pop Up information centre

The City of Owen Sound will be offering Tourism and Visitor Services in a new location this summer.

The “Pop-up” Visitor Information Centre at 173 8th Street East in the Downtown Core, across from City Hall and the Farmers’ Market.

The Visitor Information Centre will help visitors, residents and tourism-focused businesses navigate the stage 3 recovery in Ontario and the Grey-Bruce region

The centre will open to the public on Thursday, July 16. A maximum of four visitors at one time are permitted.

A release from the city says the location in the downtown core will offer many of the same services that visitors and residents have been accustomed to at the traditional location on the inner west harbour. This includes providing visitor services and tourism support on behalf of Owen Sound and area businesses, merchandise, and souvenirs as well as bike rental services.

“It has been great to witness residents and visitors returning to Owen Sound to support our local businesses and enjoy our outdoor amenities in a safe and responsible manner”, said Owen Sound Mayor, Ian Boddy. “Offering Visitor Services downtown provides an important touchpoint for everyone, as we explore all of the wonderful things to do in our very own backyard this summer.”

Owen Sound’s Visitor Centre at 1155 1st Avenue West traditionally welcomes more than 6000 visitors from May to October. The City plans to return to 1155 1st Avenue West in 2021. The facility is shared with the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre.
