Uptick in Sarnia building permits in June

For the first time this pandemic-plagued year, there were some signs of life in June in terms of building activity in Sarnia.

The 60 permits issued by city hall with a total value of $8.3 million were the most of any month in the first half of 2020.

The year-to-date total of $26.5 million is still $11 million behind last year's pace.

The largest permit in June was $950,000 for a home at 1947 Lakeshore Rd.

The 10 permits for single-family homes issued in June was also the best so far this year bringing the yearly total to 27, just two behind last year's total through six months.
